Shedding light on the application process
Biological sciences admissions support for Oxford, Cambridge and Imperial
I'm Flora, a Cambridge graduate and an Oxford-qualified biology teacher, and I take applicants through the ESAT, the personal statement and the interview.
Preparing applicants for
I teach the application as a subject: honest preparation, not ‘insider access’. I want you to come across as a genuinely curious person, not an over-polished performance.
One-to-one admissions support, £95 an hour, or a package quoted for exactly what you need.
A two-minute introduction
Short introduction, coming soon
I'm recording a two to three minute introduction: who I am, how the application actually works, and how I help with each part of it. It'll live here shortly. In the meantime, tell me what you're applying for.
What you actually need
There's no insider access to buy, whatever anyone charges for it. What helps is teaching, on the parts of your application where preparation actually makes a difference:
Course and college choice
Working out what suits you, and what each one is really looking for.
The ESAT
Reasoning and skills you can drill, with a diagnostic tracker that finds your weak spots across almost 800 past-paper questions.
The personal statement
Editing until it sounds like you, and helps you stand out.
The interview
An academic conversation you can practise.
Nobody can promise you a place. What I can do is tell you what to work on, teach you how, and be honest about how it's going.
What changes
- You know what the ESAT is actually testing, and a diagnostic tracker shows you exactly where your time is worth spending.
- You get honest feedback, not reassurance for its own sake.
- You stop wasting time on advice that doesn't apply to your course.
Who you'd be working with
- MSci Natural Sciences, University of Cambridge, specialising in Biochemistry
- PGCE Science with Merit, University of Oxford
- Qualified Teacher Status, seven years in secondary science
- Ten years tutoring biology, over 1,000 hours taught
- Oxbridge applicants supported at three schools
- State school educated
For parents
You're not paying for a magic formula. You're paying for a qualified teacher who will assess your child honestly, recommend only the preparation worth doing, and quote a fixed price in writing before anything is booked. Get in touch with any question.
